Virus Removal
Your computer may be behaving erratically or throwing all sorts of strange messages or obscure alerts at you. Don't be alarmed most viruses and dreaded rogue programs can be removed without drastic consequences.
Unfortunately the majority of computers are potentially at risk of becoming infected with a virus. Hence I always recommend that you have some kind of security/anti-virus software installed on your machine - and just remember if it's not up-to-date then it might not be worth having at all. Also remember that anti-virus software may not stop you from getting a virus, but it should recognise it and prevent any damage that it may otherwise have caused.
Viruses can take may forms, from the just plain annoying to very damaging and potentially destructive ones. A true virus can replicate itself and can even be passed on to others without your knowledge - for example when computers are networked together or it could even find a way of attaching itself to your emails. Most anti-virus software now attempt to catch all forms of virus including worms, trojans, spyware, adware etc. However this does not mean it's time to get complacent - always be vigilant in the email attachments and files you open and take care what you download from the internet.
It is also quite possible that you could get infected by some kind of malicious program that hijacks your system and affects your internet browsing and keeps redirecting you to unwanted web pages or sites. Perhaps you have been burdened with rogue software that reports several security issues on your system and suggests you buy the program to resolve the issues - beware! It is increasingly common to find this type of rogue program reporting all kinds of security risks, spyware, adware, errors etc - that simply aren't there. Unfortunately these can sometimes bypass anti-virus software. Again be vigilant and beware these types of programs.
If you suspect any kind of virus activity or are concerned that you may be infected with some other kind of rogue or malicious program or feel that your computer has been compromised then please give me a call.
If you require anti-virus software then I recommend the use of AVG software - I have used this for several years and still consider it to be my first choice for virus protection. As with most things I think it is always good to be able to try before you buy and with AVG you can trial the full product (not a cut-down demo) for 30 days. Clicking any of the links below will take you to the AVG UK website where you can download trial versions or purchase full products and renew any existing AVG products.
AVG products are running on over 80 million computers worldwide, find out why.
