As computers get used over time they inevitably gather more and more programs and data - and do slow down - and occasionally may come to a grinding halt. It may get to the stage when you start thinking 'I'm sure this shouldn't be happening'. The chances are one day your computer will need to be repaired.
Even the best equipment can reach the end of it's life and the time will come when repairs may be necessary. Sadly hard-drives, processors, memory, motherboards and other computer components can fail - just like your TV, washing machines etc. Fortunately you don't necessarily have to go out and buy a complete new system when something happens. Replacing some failed components could save a lot of anguish as well as money.
It isn't always physical components that cause problems - conflicting programs could be causing issues or perhaps the operating system itself has become corrupted. In fact most repairs tend to be software issues of somekind and are quite often the result of virus or some other malicious activity.
